Snowshoe Kawartha A Huge Success
A casual meeting over coffee with local town folk in the summer of 2016 has lead to to the development of a brand new and very successful winter event in the quaint little village of Fenelon Falls, Ontario.
The third annual event was held on the morning o Saturday February 2nd, 2019.
It was a perfect morning for out door winter sports and the snow covering on the trail was pristine.
The gun went off at 11 am right on frozen Cameron Lake and over 70 athletes took off on tough , challenging and very scenic course.
This was a record turnout for the event that also featured a kids 500 meter sprint run and a variety of winter festival activities including crokicurl, snow sculptures and a fat bike tour.
Luca Senk and Kelly Doner were the respective male and female Champions in the 10 k. Matt Campbell and Taralynn Likuski taking the honors in the 5 k.
All four athletes will have their names engraved on the Snowshoe Canada Provincial Championship plaque.
For the first time a $1000 total prize purse was offered for the top three male and female winners in the 10 k.

A lovely lunch was held at the local community church following the event.
The event is a go for next year with a tentative date of Saturday February 1st, 2020
